David Guillermo Los Angeles, California Filipino Community's Mr. Republican Super Leader of Filipino-Americans
|
In the higher hierarchy of the Republican National Party, die-hard
financial supporters are divided into three levels: Senatorial Inner
Circle, Trust Inner Circle and the Presidential Round Table.
This group is commonly known in the the political circle as "fat
cats" - the very influential and very much "in" moneyed-group. As a
member of either of the above levels, one pays an annual dues to
RNC , (Republican National Committee) here in Washington, D.C.
: $1,000 for the Senatorial Inner Circle; $5,000 for Trust Inner
Circle; and, $10,000 for the Presidential Round Table.
As a member, one is expected to voluntarily contribute to any
Republican politician running for elected position. Congressional,
senatorial, vice presidential and presidential candidates look to
the members of the ' Inner Circles ' as major source of funding
not only during election time but also while in the process of
building political war chest.
Dave Guillermo belongs to the Presidential Round Table. His
wife, Tina, is with the Senatorial Inner Circle. The Guillermos are
not only "big time" financial supporters but one of the most
dedicated grass root workers and organizers!

With the assistance of a few selected associates, Dave organized almost single-handedly fifty one
nationwide Filipinos for Bush-Quayle movement. The group was responsible in inserting full-page
advertisements in seventeen Filipinos newspapers in America.
During the Presidential Election, Dave was refuted to be one of the two Filipinos (the other was Melecio H.
Jacaban of Sacramento, California - the Filipino "Grand Old Man" of the Republican Party and personal friend
of former President Ronald Reagan) who has direct access to the then Vice President George Bush.
In the 1989 Presidential Inauguration activities, the Guillermos attended three inaugural balls: the
Asian-American Presidential Inaugural Ball at Willard Hotel on Wednesday, January 18th; the Gala Inaugural
Ball at the Old Post Office Pavillon on Thursday; and the Inaugural Ball at Convention Center on Friday. They
were provided with VIP passes in the VIP areas during the Swearing-in Ceremony at the West Front of the
Capitol. Reserved seats in one of the grandstands for VIPs were given to them in order to view the
Presidential Inaugural Parade. Breakfast and luncheon meetings with incoming Cabinet members as
special guests were arranged by Republican National Committee in cooperation with the Presidential
Inaugural Committee.
"Dave's sincere desire is to see his countrymen acquire meaningful - not token- placement with federal
government jobs," commented one Filipino political leader. "He has been working hard in promoting positive
Filipino image among the top politicians in the country."
His participation in city , municipal, county, state and national elections enables him to understand more
fully the needs of Filipinos in America. In the last Presidential Elections, Dave worked with Filipinos in the
states of California, Hawaii, New York, New Jersey, Washington, DC, Florida, Washington, Arizona, Idaho,
Michigan, New Jersey, Oklahoma, Louisiana, North Carolina and Texas.
One old-timer community leader in Los Angeles, where Dave is a County Commissioner, described him ;"
Dave is always soft-spoken and very effective with just a few words. He seldom asserts himself aggressively
as a leader. He is always humble, but when he talks, friends and adversaries listen. He smoothly gets the
favorable attention of people around him, at all levels - the poor, the middlemen, the educated, ambassadors,
congressmen, senators and presidents. His leadership is action. He is effective because of his sincerity and
willingness to spend his own time promoting political interest and active participation of the Filipino
Americans in the U.S."
He received his Bachelor of Science Degree majoring in Agricultural Business Management from California
Polytechnic University in Pomona, Calif., and his Master's Degree in Education from California Polytecnic in
San Luis Obispo. He has taken courses toward a law degree from a university in Manila and started his Ph.
D. in Economics from the University of California in Los Angeles (UCLA).
Aside from his real estate investments, Dave is President of DFK Investments of Los Angeles. He is also a
Math teacher since 1965 at Stevenson Junior High School in Los Angeles. Dave has California licenses in
both real estate and insurance. He was "Don David" - an " haciendero " when he owned a 3500-acre farm
in Imperial Valley growing cotton and various all-year-round vegetables. "I sold the farm after deciding to go
full-time helping the Republican Party and its causes and finding ways and means to help our own
countrymen - the Filipinos in America, " claimed Dave.
