A ONE MAN CRUSADER DETERMINED  TO UNIFY FELLOW
DOCTORS. WHILE OTHERS STILL PLAN MEDICAL
MISSION TO THE PHILIPPINES,
DR. HO   HAS BEEN  SPEARHEADING ONE  ANNUALLY FOR
YEARS !

Dr. Jesus T. Ho, an outstanding alumnus of UST Medical Class of
1965, is an internist in private practice.  In 1984, through vigorous
lobbying, he was instrumental in the passage of the Abolition of
Temporary Licensing of Foreign Medical Graduates.

Dr. Ho is  also working very diligently in trying to unify the
organizations of medical doctors and the doctors of ostheopathy in
West Virginia for better regulations.  It is along this area that
Senator Rockefeller of West Virginia and Governor Gaston
Caperton are very helpful in assisting practicing physicians in the
state.

For years now, Dr. Ho has been leading Medical/Surgical
missions to Southern Philippines, along with some twenty-five
other phycisians.  The mission have become like an addiction to
him.  He gets a lot of fulfillment, joy, and satisfaction in doing this -
helping our people back home and  seeing all those happy faces truly invigorates him, he says.

Dr. Ho and his group go to the remote places of Visayas and Mindanao, with the assistance of the provincial
hospitals.  He prefers to go to the less attended places of the Southern Philippines where the need is much
more acute.  His delegation comprise of specialists in various fields.

Ex-Governor More of West Virginia has provided two army places to Dr. Ho's missions to transport equipment
to the Philippines.  They bring medical and surgical equipment, supplies, books, and medicine supplies
during these missions. This project is on-going.  When Dr. Ho is home in West Virginia, he is constantly
seeking donations from major pharmaceutical companies and hospitals.  He sponsors benefit concerts to
raise funds for this project.

Dr. Ho belongs to various professional organizations and a recipient of multiple awards.  Some of the awards
bestowed on Dr. Ho are: Dr. David Ealy Community Service Award; St. Lorenzo Ruiz PresidentialMission
Award, Outstanding Service and Achievement Award, Leadership Award from the Tri-State Filipino American
Association; Physician of the Year,  Presidential Service Awards, PMA, W. Va.: Community Award, Presidential
Gavel Award, Lion of the Year.  Distinguished Award for Community Service from the Moundsville Lions Club;
and Service Award from the Friends of Ohio Valley.  Together with these are numerous Appreciation Awards
bestowed on him by different organizations.

Dr.  Ho was born in Larena, Siquijor to Mr. & Mrs. Antonio Navera Ho.  He is married to Priscilla, a dentist, and
are blessed with three beautiful daugthers, Jenny, Jessica and Jasmine.  Both Jenny and Jessica were past
presidents of the APPA Youth Council.

One can easily envision Dr. Ho as an individual who is always on the side of the less fortunate.  He brings
hope to the empty lives of many.  He descends from the safe, ivory tower of medical profession down to the
arena, to battle for the hurt and embittered fellow physicians.  He risks the odds of disillusionment and failure.
For all this, Dr. Ho has certainly earned the respect and commendations of his peers and colleagues.  For
these reasons, we give Dr. Ho and big salute!  (Condensed  from the Philippine Amnerican Medical
Bulletin/June 1990.)
