Dr. Donaire is a visionary with a mission. He is a dreamer and a
doer, that New Yorkers are lucky to have," stated the master of
ceremonies at the State Convention of the Royal Pontifical UST
Medical Association in the State of New York recently.
A well-known medical surgeon of the Catholic Medical Center of
Brooklyn and Queens, St. Mary's Hospital Diviision and St. Joseph

Fred Donaire entered the arena of community leadership in 1985
when he joined into "lionism". Starting with the Phil-Am Lions
Club Chapter in 1985-1990, he later joined the United Asian
Lions Chapter of the Lions Club International in Staten Island. He
champions his time to serve the medically underprivileged

communities through the free multiphasic health screening program in both Brooklyn and Queens, the sight
conservation in which he holds the directorship at North Shore Hospital's corneal trasnplant team and the
Drug Awareness Program of District 20 R2 and District 20 K1. These have earned him the "New Horizon
Award," one of the most coveted accolades from the International Lions Club in 1992.
As president of the Katbalogan USA in 1990-91, he maintained the philosophy that "dedication is a binding
force for unity." During his term, he directed his efforts and resources toward the improvement of the quality of
life of his compatriots in New York and its vicinity and especially those in the Philippines.
Again he proved his charismatic leadership in 1991 as president of the Immaculate Conception Church, a
Filipino parish society in Jamaica Estate, Queens, New York through his successful fund raising activities for
the improvement of the parish scholl with over 15% Filipino students enrollment.
Believing that leadership is not just a transient episode but a life long commitment, he chartered the Empire
City Medical Lions Club in South Ozone Park in 1992, serving as the club's president for two unprecedented
successful terms. Now his permanent home club in the District 20 K1, the club has maintained the number
one position in the district since its inception. Through his leadership, the Club earns the mainstream
community's respect and admiration, receiving a meritorious citation from New State Senator Edward Griffith .
Dr. Donaire received, not one but two "100% Lions International President" Awards for his dedicated
services and superlative achievements. He also was given the most coveted and prestigious Lions Club's
"Melvin Jones Fellowship Award," and various other accolades from the mainstream community.

the State of New York, assuming the presidency of this prestigious group in 1993-94. His achievements as
the leader of this group earned him the "State Thomasian of the Year" award.
His silent generosity is well recognized by his friends, of the different Lions Club in the New York region, and
the Filipino youth towards the realization of their objectives. He is the leading financial contributor to St. John
University Filipino Society Foundation for endowed scholarship for Filipino students. He championed the
cause of the Philippine Junior Science League in America, an organization founded in 1980, and at present
has offered twenty scholarship to Filipino high school students entering college.
Active with the Philippine Medical Association in America, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Delaware
Chapter, his love and compassion once more become evident when he recently chaired a successful health
fair at the Immaculate Conception Church in Manhattan. The health fair provided free clinical and medical
assistance to the Stuyvesant mainstream community with a high concentration of Filipino seniors without
medical insurance.
As the incumbent president of the American College of International Physicians New York New Jersey
Chapter (ACIP), he promises to continue and defend the interest of the foreign medical graduates against
discrimination. Last August 11th, he waspresented the "Golden Harvest Award - Ginintuang Langka" for his
superior achievements as the 1995 Grand Marshall of the Philippine Indenpence Day Committee parade.
