Victor D. Reyes, CLU, ChFC Jersey City, New Jersey A Dynamic Executive and An Outstanding Community Leader

In the competitive field of insurance, one has to be a super
salesperson before one can be truly recognized as a consistent
and be a top producer in the true sense. The name of the game
is number. You make the number, you go places. In the industry
where one should consistently motivate one's own self, in order
to produce, no one else can help you, except you. It is a tough
industry. But if and when one is truly set to be a shining star
amongst the twinkling fireflies, then insurance is the field
where self-gratification or satisfaction is equally matched by
financial rewards. It is an industry where boys are easily
separated from the men. Where persistency and consistency is
the cardinal rule. Flash- in- the-pan producers and/or "dreamers"
but not doers are dime a dozen in insurance field.
Victor D. Reyes, born and raised in Bulacan, Philippines, is as
the proverbial saying goes, a diamond among the rough stones.

Or, as the favorite expression of the late famous General Carlos P. Romulo, "he is a dime among the
nickles." He is one of handful of Filipinos who is a Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) and a Chartered
Financial Consultant (ChFC), both designations are the gauge of profesionalism in the insurance industry.
Victor is the first Filipino appointed as Agency Manager by the Equitable Companies throughout its 135
years of existence. And Equitable is not just another insurance company in the industry. It is one of "the"
insurance companies with a strength more than a rock. A steel. He joined the Equitable as an Agent in
1975 then rose to the highest position ever attained by an independent agent. In 1989, Victor was appointed
District Manager, and by the end of his first year, he had placed second in the national competition among
new District Managers. Victor's district was also the leader nationally, winning the National Builder's
Trophy in 1991 and 1992. He was appointed Agency Manager in 1993.
Victor has received numerous accolades from Equitable; and various awards and distinctions from the
insurance industry. He has been a member of the National Leaders Corps and a holds formidable record, if
not unmatched, of membership for 19 consecutive years with the Million Dollar Round Table. In addition,
Victor is a member of the exclusive Order of Excalibur, and has won five Centurion and two Legion of Honors
awards.
In 1990, he received the Superior Achievement and the Summit Citation awards. Ten years after joining
Equitable, Victor was elected to the Equitable Hall of Fame, the highest honor for an Equitable Agent. For
three consecutive years, from 1990-1992, the insurance industry honored him with a Career Development
Award at the General Agents and Managers Con-ference.
Victor has earned both the CLU and ChFC designations from the American College of Bryn Mawr, PA. He is
a member of the National Association of Life Underwriters, the American Society of CLU and ChFC, and the
New York City Life Underwriters Association. He also serves on the Board of Directors of the General Agents
and Managers Association of Greater New York, Inc., and on the Board of Trustees as well as the Treasurer of
the Foundation of the Philippine American Medical Society of New Jersey.
He is a past president of the Filipino American Chamber of Commerce of New Jersey. He is an avid
supporter of cause-oriented projects sponsored by many civic, professional as well as social organizations
in the community. There have been several humanitarian projects which he himself spearheaded such
as the Bocaue Tragedy Relief Fund and The Lahar Victims Fund-Raising Drive.
He and his wife, Cristy, who is a physician and is the Chief of Oncology, reside in Colonia, New Jersey with
their two children: Michelle, 17; and Victor, Jr., 13.
