|
J. Henry Chiang Seno, popularly known among friends and
business associates as plain Henry, came to the United States in
1984. Unlike many Filipinos who came to the United States to
sort of start all over again, Henry's plan was to introduce
business ventures in order to serve the multi-million Filipinos in
America. Leaving two flourishing family businesses in the
Philippines where he was both president, the Huasing Shipping
Lines and the Singing Telegram, Henry settled in the Los
Angeles region.
Initially, he launched the Regalo Card Corporation where up to
the present time, he is the President and Chief Executive Officer
(CEO). The concept of the business is a membership-based
company for Filipinos and Americans to avail of services and
goods in the Philippines through a networking setup. The
services is nation-wide and is one of the first of its kind in the
history of Filipino entrepreneurship. Acting as President and
CEO of two other businesses, Henry organized the Financial

Ideas Company, which handles financial services such as insurance, income tax preparations, mortgage
and business financing and Henry and Sons, an import-export and product brokerage company.
His concept of the Regalo Card won praises both from the mainstream and Filipino communities. A Filipino
in either the United States or Canada can be a Regalo Card Member and avail of various services and
generously discounted purchases of items or services through bulk-buying offered by the company. The
benefits include prepaid long distance discount cards which was introduced by Henry way ahead of those
being offered today by many companies; legal and immigration referral services; accounting and tax services;
real estate and mortgages; tours and travel; shipping of balikbayan boxes with a generous discount; real
estate investment opportunities; medical, life and property insurances; burial and funeral plans; and various
other services.
Henry has been very active in various endeavors. He graduated cum laude from the University of San Jose
Recoletos in Cebu City in 1968 where he was president of the Supreme Student Council. Graduating with a
law and accounting degrees, he became the youngest member of the Kiwanis International in 1974. At the
age of 23, he was voted Outstanding District Chairman throughout the Philippines on his second year with
the Kiwanis. In 1980, he was Convention Director of the Philippine Toastmaster Convention. He founded the
first "Singing Telegram" in the Philippines. He was the first to introduce the "Maktan Rocks" or "Maktan
Stones" as construction accessories in the market place. At age 24, he founded "Trim Ideas", the first PRT
and Health Club in Cebu. At the same age, he founded Robi Boats and Company, the first research and
manufacturing company for fun and recreational boats.
In Los Angeles, Henry is visibly involved in various civic and community services. At the Optimist International,
he started in 1990 with the Optimist Club of Downtown LA-Evening, an almost 100% Filipino membership
club composed of professionals, business people and the Who-Is-Who of the Filipino community. In 1991,
he became Club President - Honor Club. He has made such an impact with the members that they elected
him again to be president for the year 1997-1998. The official induction will be on Oct. 1, 1997, just eight
days before he will be honored as one of the Twenty Outstanding Filipino-Americans in the United States and
Canada, and be officially welcomed to the elite "Circle of Leaders" as the TOFA awardees are globally known.
Until last year, he served as president of the University of San Jose - Recoletos Alumni Association where he
was successful in implementing various worthy projects. He is active and served either as president or vice
president of various clubs such as the Cebu Brotherhood; the Kiwanis International, Toastmaster

Henry's father Chiang Bon Bick was from Amoy, Fokien in China. His mother Lourdes Seno Chiang is from
Cebu City. Henry is married to the former Lourdes Villarta of Cebu, currently with White Memorial Medical
Center as a nurse. They reside in West Los Angeles with their 3 children, Henrison, 12, Matthew, 9 and
