Anicetas “Annie” R. Nanowsky Miami, Florida National Leader • A Major Moving Force in Unifying Filipinos in Florida

Anicetas R. Nanowsky is well-known for her volunteerism in
beautiful things that highlight positive Filipino image to the
mainstream community not only in the sunshine State of Florida
where Filipinos are mushrooming all over the state but in both
countries, the United States and Canada. Whenever there is a
major beauty pageant, Annie is visibly present coordinating and
monitoring the event. In the beauty pageants in Florida, Virginia
Beach, Virginia; Toronto, Ontario, Canada; Ottawa, Canada and
other major areas where Filipinos reside, Annie’s assistance is
invaluable. Her unselfish desire to help raise funds for the
unfortunate victims of natural disasters globally comes naturally.
“Her outstanding leadership, her commitment and her dedication
to the needs of our countrymen have always served as a model of
excellence for the Filipino community,” writes Dr.. Joselyn H.
Bruce, president of the Philippine American Federation of South
Florida. “She has managed to establish unity, solidarity and
cooperation among the generally fragmented groups in our
society.”

Annie, as she wants all to call her is the owner-proprietor of Annie’s Boutique & Beauty Salon in Miami,
Florida. She is the founder and still president of the powerful Ilocano Association of Florida; vice president
and executive director of the equally influential group, NANAY (National Alliance to the Needs of Aging Years);
director of the Philippine Centennial Movement; Florida State Chairperson of the Joseph Ejercito Estrada for
President (JEEP) movement; board member of the Philippine Charities Foundation; and director and
chairperson of various beauty pageants including the “Binibining Pilipinas of North America” in Toronto.
“My hobby is helping to unite the Filipino American community,” remarked Annie who travels often around
the United States and Canada to prove her point. “I enjoy interacting and networking with various
organizations to assist them raise funds for worthy causes.”
Annie acquired her Bachelor of Science in Education from Far Eastern University in Manila where she was
a member of the famous FEU Dance Troupe and the FEU’s varsity swimming team. Pursuing vocational
courses offered by the university’s vocational and technical section, the Far Eastern Vocational School, in
addition to her regular college degree, she completed the courses on Hair Science and Dressmaking.
Upon settling in the United States to join her husband, she further equipped herself, prior to launching
her own business,and completed the advanced courses in Cosmetology at the famous Robert Morgan
Vocational & Technical Institute in Miami, Florida.
Annie was born in Laoag City, Ilocos Norte. Her father was the late Pio Natividad and her mother is the
former Leona Amigo, both of Laoag City. A widow of the late John Nanowsky of Youngstown, Ohio, they
have three children: Liza Nanowsky, Linda Nanowsky and Charles Nanowsky.
“I have completely dedicated myself to helping the Filipinos and the Philippines,” concluded Annie. #
