Vicente “Vic” C. Camua, Jr. Glendale, Arizona Dynamic Community Leader With Compassion Pride and Joy of the Philippines, Arizona and Canada
|
There is no social, political or civic functions in the Filipino
community of Phoenix and neighboring counties in Arizona that
the “pro bono” services of Vicente “Vic” C. Camua, Jr., is not
solicited. He is either requested to help raise funds for the needy
and the unfortunate in the United States, Canada or in the
Philippines and just promote the organization or its projects. And
Vic never says no to all the requests. His generosity in sharing
his managerial and organizational skills were not left unnoticed
more specially to the two organizations closest to his heart: the
Knights of Columbus and the Lions Club International. Both
organizations he served simultaneously for more than 13 years.
He held various responsible positions with the exception of
being president in the Lions, or being grand knight with the
Knights. His reasoning for refusing to accept the nominations for
top honcho of both association is understandable. He feels that
he can be of more value as an enhancer and/or executioner of

procedures and policies rather than be the lead person. He believes he can volunteer his services to
worthwhile humanitarian projects such as the medical missions jointly sponsored by the Lions and the
Philippine Medical Society of Arizona to remote impoverished barrios in the Philippines that badly need
medical attention, medical equipment and medicines. His continuous search for funds or any form of
donation for the poor in the Philippines is well known among his legion of friends in Arizona, California and
Canada. But unlike others, Vic Camua treats his desire to help the poor in the Philippines as a full time job
.... not a weekend job. “We should endeavor to assist our unfortunate brethren in the Philippines because if
we don’t, who would?”
Vic is the owner-manager of his own business, the VW International Sales, which he started in 1986. When
he left the Philippines to come to the United States, he never contemplated of staying in this country “to start
from scratch all over again.” Vic was referring to his comfortable and secured life in Manila with Pfizer, Inc.
Starting with the giant drug manufacturer best known for its Viagra wonder drug, Vic rose from being a
Professional Sales Representative in 1970 to District Manager for Mindanao in 1975 to Regional Sales
Manager for Visayas-Mindanao in 1979 to National Sales Manager for the entire Philippines in 1982. He was
then making so much income when he had the opportunity to visit various provinces of the Philippines
witnessing firsthand the sufferings of some of the Filipino people. “I made a promise to myself to do as
much as I can possibly can to help those that were left hungry and indigent in the Philippines,” remarked Vic.
Educated in prominent schools in the Philippines, Vic first acquired a Bachelor of Science Degree in Medical
Technology from Centro Escolar University. He then went to receive his Bachelor of Arts in 1961 and his
Master of Arts in 1965 from the University of the Philippines in Diliman, Quezon City. Since the time he got out
of college, Vic continues to enhance his knowledge by attending lectures and seminars on management,
sales, organization, relations, etc.
Vic was born in Ilocos Sur and moved to Manila to finished his high school at Far Eastern University (FEU).
He is married to the former Wilhelmina Subido born in Calapan, Oriental Mindoro. They have one child:
Racquel S. Camua, 22. The Camuas reside in Glendale, Arizona, a suburb of Phoenix, #
