Godsend Help Providing Hope
Dr. Venerando J. Maximo is  popularly known and a
well-respected medical professional in Dover,
Delaware. He is occupied doing community service,
using his expertise in the field of medicine.  
He was Co-Founder and Co-Medical Director for the
Hope Medical Clinic Inc. of Dover, Delaware an
organization helping people who do not have medical
insurance coverage. He is also very  much involved  
being   one of its the volunteer doctors. HOPE, which
stands for Helping Our People Endure, was founded by
the Philippine Medical Association of Delaware in 2003.
It has various fund-raising events as the clinic operates
mainly on donations. They are looking for more
sponsorship to acquire more medicine or funds to pay
for prescriptions.

His concern for the needy is not just limited here in the
United States. He did not forget about the Filipinos who
need medical help and attention back in his homeland.
He has been to surgical missions to the Philippines.
One of these missions was to Samar,
Philippines in
2001which was organized by the Society of Philippine Surgeons in America, an organization that
provides free surgical operations on indigent Filipino patients every year. Another one was to Vigan,
Philippines put together by the Dover Rotary Club Surgical-Medical Mission.        

Dr. Maximo is happily married to wife Carole. They got married in July 31, 1965 and are blessed with
son, Vincent and daughters Victoria, Angela and Patricia.
He was born in Manila, Philippines on November 14, 1933. He graduated from the University of Santo
Tomas, College of Medicine in 1959.

After his migration here in the United States, he went into Internship at the Niagara Falls Memorial
Hospital in Niagara, New York in 1961-1962. He had his Surgical Residency at the Montefiore Hospital in
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 1962-1963. After that, he had his Urology Residency at the Sinai Hospital in
Baltimore, Maryland 12 1963-1966.

He is presently an attending Physician at the Urology Service, Kent General Hospital in Dover since
1968. He was a  consultant in Urology at the Milford Memorial Hospital in Milford, Delaware from 1970 to
2004. Also at the Beebe Hospital  and the Nanticoke Hospital until 2004.

He was certified by the American Board of Urology in 1977.  He was a fellow at the American College of
Surgeons, International College of Surgeons and the American College of International Physicians.
His membership would include the American Urological Association, American College of Surgeons,
American Medical Association, Medical Society of Delaware and the Kent County Medical Society and
Past President. Also of the Society of Philippine Surgeons in America, the UST Member Alumni
Association, Delaware Urological Association and Past Vice President and the Delaware Board of
Medical Practice.    He was awarded the Outstanding Ruby Jubilarian for service to Community in May
1999. He was a National Board Member and Chairman of the Membership and Credentials Committee,
and member of Scientific and Research Committee of the American College of International Physicians.
Dr. Maximo was a Former Medical Advisor for the Delaware Hospice, Inc. He was also connected with
the Geriatric Services of Delaware as a former Board Member and with the Ostomy Association of
Delaware as an Advisor.

The Association of the Philippine American Physicians in Delaware was under his leadership as
President from 1990 to 1992. And the Tri-State Chapter of the USTMAAA consisting of Delaware,New
Jersey and Pennsylvania as Vice-President in 1997 to 2000 and later on as President from 1997 to
2000.
