Gerry M. Austria, a prominent member of the Filipino Community
in New Jersey, is a native of San Jose, Batangas. He is married
to the lovely Imelda Endaya Austria, a Registered Nurse at New
York University Medical Center, and blessed with 4 beautiful
daughters namely, Katrina 25, a 3rd year medical student at
Ross University, Pia 23, was graduated from Rutgers University
in 2006, B.S. Biology and pursuing a Masters degree in Forensic
Science at John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York City,
Lucia 20, a sophomore at Boston College attending the Carol
School of Management, and Laura 13, a 7th grader at Our Lady of
Mercy School in Jersey City.
Gerry has a degree in Bachelor of Science, major in Civil
engineering, and Bachelor of Science in Architecture, both of
which he received from the University of Santo Tomas in Manila,
Philippines. He became a registered Architect in 1968. Before he migrated to the United States, he
was with Octavio A. Kalalo Associates, Herminigildo I. Mandanas Management Group, Inc., and The
Manila Banking Corporation to name a few. He attended seminars such as Professional
Management Program and Problem Solving/Decision Making both in 1977.
During the course of 6 years, Gerry was employed by two well known Architectural firms, the firm of
Dermont Reddy, P.E. and Castro-Blanco, Piscioneri and Associates, P.C. both in New York as Project
Architect.
He is very active in numerous civic organizations such as San Josenians of the East Coast, Batangas
Association of Eastern Seaboard, USA, The Garden State Filipino- American Associations, Inc.,
Batangas City Association, USA, Federation of Philippine Societies of New Jersey, Inc., PACEC,
Philippine American Friendship Committee, Inc., Order of the Knights of Rizal, Jersey City Fil-Am
Chamber of Commerce, Inc. where he is one of the founding members, and currently one of the
Board of Directors of Philippine Independence Day Council, Inc. He was the chairman of PAFCOM
Friendship Night Ball in the year 2006 and the chairman of the PIDCI – Diwa ng Kalayaan 2007 Gala.
He received the Leadership Award in Business, year 2005 from Pan American Concerned Citizens
Action League, Inc. (PACCAL) and the Mabuhay Award, year 2007 from National Association of Filipino
Americans. Likewise he received The Community Outreach Award – Retail Business
Entrepreneurship, 2007 from JANMAR USA Corporation - TOPNOTCH. He was Hermano Mayor in
Santacruzan 2006 from the Catholic Action of Mary.
Gerry is the President and CEO of American Pinoy Food Mart, Inc., in Bayonne, NJ with branches in
Jersey City and Bergenfield both in New Jersey.
