MAN OF SUBSTANCE
Jun was born in Mary Johnston Hospital in Tondo Manila and
spent most of his childhood years in Balut Tondo. His family
moved to BF Homes Paranaque, just before he entered high
school. His formative life with the Dominican friars of Colegio de
San Juan de Letran and later with the Jesuit priests of Ateneo de
Manila University is notable for consistent academic achievement
awards. Described by one of his science professors at University
of the Philippines as Jose Rizal’s” firefly in search of the light”, he
graduated magna cum laude with bachelor of science degree in
Zoology. He continued his medical studies at the University of the
Philippines College of Medicine and graduated as one of the top in
his class and the Philippine Medical Boards.
Not one to rest on his academic laurels, he was active member of the Phi Kappa Mu Fraternity.
Even then, he volunteered in medical missions and was at EDSA during first EDSA revolution in
the volunteer medical brigade.
After graduation from medical school, Jun left for the United States where his family immigrated
in 1990. He was accepted in the competitive internal medicine residency program of the Baylor

the community. He has served in various functions for the Philippine Medical Association, Ateneo
de Manila Alumni Association and most significantly as the President of the local chapter of the
University of the Philippines Alumni Association. Under his dynamic leadership, the alumni
association grew, attracted younger members and more than doubled its fundraising. He

MAN OF INTEGRITY

views, he takes a stand on issues, including advocating for Filipino physicians in the Desperate
Housewives debacle.
MAN FOR OTHERS
A supportive husband, protective father, dutiful son, dependable friend and brother, Jun is
known to always lend a helping hand. He continues to volunteer in health fairs, medical
missions and health education campaigns. A compassionate physician, he is known to visit
