Erlinda Sayson Limcaco
BSN, RN,
Linda's voluntary services  to our community was not given enough
attention, and yet, she just continue to give and give.  One of her most
recent accomplishment was her rescue of a "Filipina battered housewife" in
Arizona in March 2008.

Linda was on her way home from Iloilo where she enrolled her daughter
Kristina in the college of Nursing at the Saint Paul's University.  While falling
in line at NAIA, she overheard a young filipina named Maricel sharing her
sad experiences from the hands of her abusive  African American husband
of less than a year.  Linda told Maricel that her life is in danger, so, she told
her that, if she is abused by her husband again, to call her, and she will
send her an airplane ticket and move with family in New Jersey.
It did not take long when Linda received a frantic call from Maricel in the middle of the night
crying.  She told Linda that she cannot take it any more. Linda told Maricel to decide now, but,
Maricel's reply was "I am she was scared."

Maricel made a decision to move out of their house and leave her husband.  She called a taxi
cab.  She put her 2 pieces of luggage with a plan to move with a friend, but, when the Taxi Cab
driver rung the door bell, her husband heard it, and husband took her to the second floor and
kept her prisoner inside the computer room.  The Cab Driver call the Arizona Police Emergency
and reported what he saw and, when the Police arrived, Maricel's husband refused to open the
door, and, the Police forced open the garage window, and let Maricel out of the garage window,
and, they arrested the husband, and, confiscated the 9MM pistol with 20 rounds of live
ammunition. Maricel, went to the airport and used the e-ticket and Linda picked her up at the
Philadelphia International  Airport.  Maricel lived with the family and she is now employed by
WalMart, and beginning to put her life together, and, at the same time helping her mother, a
brother and three sisters.  Maricel lives with the family free of charge.
