Vic Camua’s outstanding qualities as a community leader can be strongly described as a leader with
uncompromising attitude, unrelenting courage, spirituality and religiosity. A man of principle, Vic’s continuing
involvement and support to the Filipino community organizations in Phoenix Arizona is truly unsurpassed. As
an outstanding businessman, he propelled a small private company (Mandarin Imports) from $1 million to
$3 million in just a period of 12 months working as sales/marketing consultant due to his aggressive sales
program designed for the Asian market. His own company, VW International Sales, a mom & pop
import/export venture selling exclusive line of vitamin products and full line of medical equipment/supplies,
has increased to an annual sales of $1million per year, and it has now 19 employees.
A Lion member for 30 years, he has served as club president five times, Zone Chair twice, Region Chair
thrice, District 21-C Extension Chair thrice, Dist. 21-C Membership Chair, Vice District Governor 2000,
District Governor-Treasurer, Multiple Dist. 21 Council of Governor, 2001/Multiple Dist. 21, Extension
Chairman, 2003-06, Multiple District 21 Council Chairperson, 2005. He organized 11 new clubs/Guiding
Lion for 8 new clubs and is a Certified Guiding Lion; he sponsored 62 new members into LIONISM and was
the recipient of 11 Extension Awards; he was President of the Board, Arizona Lions Vision Center, Past
Board Member of the Lion Camp TATIYEE. A Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow (Four Diamonds), he is an
awardee of Lion of the Year award by District 21-C in 1996-97 & 98 and was a recipient of four Lions Clubs
International Presidents’ Certificate of Appreciation, MERL Leadership Certificate, Founders’ Membership
Growth Award, three District Governor Leadership Certificate, Founders’ Membership Growth Award, three
District Governor Appreciation, Awardee, District Governor’s Excellence Award, Past President MD 21 Past
District Governor Association, and Awardee, Lions International President’s Medal 2005.
Vic’s dedication to community work seems to be endless...He is a founding member of the Philippine
American Chamber of Commerce, Arizona, and Federation of the Philippine-American Chamber of
Commerce, USA; he coordinated the first Philippine Medical Mission in 1997, while serving as President of
Phoenix Phil-Am Lions Club, with 87 successful cataract surgeries, developed into an annual event, with
well over 700 cataract surgeries between Mexico and the Philippines. He is past commissioner, Human
Services Commission, member, Senior Services Advisory Committee, City of Phoenix, 2001 to present,
President Asia Pacific Community in Action; member, Advisory Board, University of Arizona, Ophthalmology
Department. He is an awardee of TOFA (Twenty Outstanding Filipino Americans in North America for his
Outstanding Community Service in Washington, D.C. in 1998; also an awardee in 2001 as Outstanding
Citizen by the Arizona Asian American Association.
Along with his community and professional life, Vic’s spiritual life is also worth mentioning...He is 4th
degree, Knights of Columbus, former District Deputy, 2002-03/2003-04; he organized two Knights of
Columbus Council, 2003-04; serving as Eucharistic Minister in his church and the V.A. Hospital; former State
Membership Director, Chairman, Leadership & New Council Development committees, Knights of
Columbus, 2005-06. He has a recipient of many awards from the Knights of Columbus, such as, Fr. Michael
Mcgivney assembly for outstanding services in organizing the event, “Honoring the Veterans of 20th Century”;
District Deputy of the Years 2002, 03,04, and Star District of the Year 2002-03.
Vic Camua’s fiery and no-nonsense leadership started early as a young student in Narvacan, Ilocos Sur in
the Philippines where he earned and learned his foundation in leadership. He earned his bachelor of arts
degree from the Far Eastern University in 1961, bachelor of science degree in Medical Technology in Centro
Escolar University in 1963, and Master of Arts from the University of the Philippines in 1966. His post-
scholastic life had been likewise colored with successful employment gaining awards as a sales manager
of Pfizer Incorporated Philippines where he piloted the company to the top five pharmaceutical company in
the country prior to his retirement in 1985. As a part of the middle management team, he snatched the
coveted Presidential Award in 1977 for achieving the distinction of winning the three categories, District
Manager of the Year, Awardees for the Salesman of the Year, and OTC Salesman of the Year. As a budding
pharmaceutical sales rep, he garnered the top sales award, “Salesman of the Year” two years in a row,
1973 & 1974, a sales record which remains unsurpassed to this date. No wonder because Vic is armed
with lessons in “Improving Management Performance of Applying Communication Technique (IMPACT)”;
“Targeted Selection”, “Advanced Selling Techniques”, Territory & Time Management”, “Managing
Interpersonal Relationships” and “Kepner Tregoe.” He is currently serving his lifetime expertise working as
Vice President of Marketing at Reliable Transcription Service.
Vic Camua is a loving and gentle figure of a man that wants nothing less than the best for his only child
Peachy and his wifeWinnie, and furthermore, to give his unselfish dedication and service to the Filipino
American and mainstream communities that touch his wonderful life.
