RIYADH, SAUDI ARABIA - Filipinos in this city got together to observe their annual sporting events which have
grown to be popular among  Overseas  Filipino  Workers (OFW) in the Middle East.

At Riyadh Dunes Basketball League, a good  number of Filipino basketball teams  participate annually to
compete in an All-Filipino basketball  tournament while at King Abdulaziz Medical City, a volleyball
tournament is held for the ladies.

Spearheaded by Mr. Simone Tonga of the U.S. Military Base in this city. Mr. Tonga is popular  in all sports
activities from tennis to volleyball to basketball tournaments around the Kingdom of  Dubai, Bahrain, Qatar
and Riyadh. He served as team captain and coach for the Riyadh Falcon/Scorpions Rugby Team and was
chosen for two consecutive tears as the All Army and Armed Forces Rugby Player.

November 3 was the opening ceremony of  the Riyadh Ladies Volleyball League   held  at  King Abdulazzi  
Medical City.   November 9 was the  the opening ceremony of  the All-Filipino  Riyadh Dunes Basketball
League.

Major Romeo Macalintal, a Filipino pilot with the  U.S. Armed Forces bases  in the Middle East and a
graduate of the West Point Academy, awarded the "Best Muse Trophy" during the basketball league
ceremony to Ms. Revelyn Garcia, 18, a student representing U-TEX team.
Last November 9, 2006, an All-Filipino Riyadh Dunes Basketball League was held at the U.S. Armed Forces
base in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Photo shows part of the Filipino basketball teams that participated in the
