


Outstanding Filipino-Americans In The United States And Canada
Lavishly Honored At The Nation's Capital For Three Days Of Festivities
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Outstanding Filipino-Americans in the United States and Canada (TOFA) were
lavishly honored at the Nation's Capital recently The festivities started Thursday, Sept. 21, 2006 with a
dinner reception at the Philippine Embassy and attended by senior staff members headed by
Philippine Ambassadasor Willie Gaa. The following night, Friday, Sept. 22nd, a gala black tie
banquet and ball was held at the J.W. Marriott Hotel's Grand Ballroom of this city. On Saturday noon,
the guests were transferred by a chartered bus and treated to "Dim Sum" and Chinese sea food
lunch. After the luncheon, guests were toured to various historic spots for souvenir photographs.
FILIPINO IMAGE Magazine and PINOY GLOBAL ONLINE NEWS both based in Washington, D.C.
sponsor annually this historic event. Commended by governments of the United States, the
Philippines and Canada, the highly successful TOFA project was first launched in 1990 and have
been annually continued, except on the 9/11 terrorists attack. Awardees are recommended and
selected by previous honorees themselves. Currently numbering two hundred and sixty
centers-of-influence and high-achiever Filipinos, the TOFA annually add 20 new members and
recently has changed its formats globally. Starting the next TOFA event, ten awardees will be coming
from the Midlle East, Europe, the Americas and Asia including the Philippines.
