Psalm 20 -- from the Prayer Desk of Rev. Deacon Gary
 
Today is Wednesday 6th of January 2010.

Psalm 20
A prayer for victory in battle. Such a prayer
will help us prepare for any great challenge.

May the Lord answer you when you are in distress,
may the name of the God of Jacob protect you.

May he give you the desire of your heart
and make all your plans succeed.

Now I know that the Lord saves his anointed,
he answers him from his holy heaven
with the saving power of his right hand.
some trust in chariots and some in horses,
but we trust in the name of the Lord our God.
They are brought to their knees and fall,
but we rise up and stand firm.

Lord, save the king! Answer us when we call.

Reflections
I noted that throughout history, empires and kingdoms have risen to great power only to vanish in the dust.  
When God answers our prayers for victory, we must quickly and openly thank him for his help.

Say one "Our Father and Hail Mary" for our own intentions and the healing intentions of my prayers.
