Statement on the Passing of Press Secretary Cerge Remonde

The Press Photographers of the Philippines (PPP) mourns with a heavy heart the sudden and untimely
passing of Press Secretary Cerge Remonde.

Surely, Secretary Remonde is a big loss for us at the PPP and the world of journalism as a whole.  Since he
took over as Press Secretary he had been very supportive of our projects that were all designed to uplift the
living condition and protect the interests of the photo journalists especially the members of the PPP.

Despite being criticized often for his stands on various issues he never wavered in his commitment in
protecting and defending press freedom in the country.

On behalf of the PPP, we wish to reiterate our condolences to his family and loved ones.

Sec. Remonde will be missed.  Paalam!
