Today is Friday 29th January 2010.
I attended a conference on "Building on Ethical Economy, Theology and the Marketplace. During our reflections period, I thought of a question: How can we Filipinos, utilize our intelligence, and our resources to build our nation and compete in the world marketplace. I have been in Beijing China, Bangkok Thailand, Egypt most recently and I said to myself we were once upon a time leading in Asia, and now we are way behind. What's wrong with our people. I know we are doing well with Gawad Kalinga, and if we were all able to start something good, like that, why not stimulate our people to go to small business by lending them some capital to start their own business. Why not buy our local products instead of imported goods made also in developing countries or countries where social justice is unknown off.
The mentality of us Filipinos, is pasikatan, at paligsahan. Looking back UST is raising money for our Centennial Alumni Building. This building will not improve our economy, will not help the poor Filipinos. Don't you think the fund collected can be use by our people to start small business towards the development of our country like the way we started the Gawad Kalinga? Please reply back. What do you have in your mind?
Hosea 6:6 Obedience versus Sacrifice.
"For I desire mercy, not sacrifice, and acknowledgment of God rather than burnt offering." Reflections: God doesn't want sacrifices; he wants our loving loyalty. He does not want offerings; he wants us to acknowledge him.
Religious ritual like meditation prayers, if done to expand our understand of God's mercy, compassion and forgiveness, it will surely nourished our relationship with him. In other words if religious rituals such as meditation prayers are carried out with an attitude of love for, and in obedience to God way, we will feel the power of the Holy Spirit coming upon us. This is divine inspiration. I am experiencing this many times. Share your experience please reply.
Antiphon You promised that you would provide living water, the fountain of eternal life, pour forth your Spirit upon us Filipinos. My brothers and sisters in Christ, Good Morning ! To prepare ourselves for today's journey, lets call to mind our sins and ask God's forgiveness for he is full of gentleness and compassion.
Lord have mercy................Lord have mercy. Christ have mercy..................Christ have mercy. Lord have mercy................Lord have mercy.
May the Almighty God have mercy on us, forgive our sins and lead us to life everlasting,Amen
Psalm 51 Indeed you love truth in the heart; then in the secret of my heart teach me wisdom. O purify me, then I shall be clean; O wash me, I shall be whiter than snow.
Psalm prayer Father; he who knew no sin was made sin for us, to save us and restore us to your friendship. Look upon our contrite heart and afflicted spirit and heal our troubled conscience, so that in the joy and strength of the Holy Spirit we may proclaim your praise and glory before all the nations. Amen
Almighty Father remember those who have died especially N & N. Bring all the souls of our departed relatives and friends into your abode, with your angels and saints in heaven. May your presence with them will bring light, happiness and peace. Amen.
Lord Jesus, remember all our relatives and friends who are suffering from known malady. Heal them to wholeness of body and spirit. Relieve their fears, pains and anxieties and also that of their own families, Amen.
Holy Spirit giver of life, power and wisdom, be our guide and guard us from harm, Amen. Theotokos, pray for us, and all who call on thee, Amen.
Reflections: 2 Samuel 11: 13-17 Don't become hardened to sin, as David did. Confess your wrong actions to God before you forget they are sins.
Say one "Our Father and Hail Mary" for our own intentions and the healing intentions of this prayers.
Have a nice day, Deacon Gary
