Today is Tuesday 2nd February 2010.
Theology of Wealth.
I asked my children to define wealth. They say...Health is wealth. At the Lions Club meeting last Sunday I ask the same question. How will you define wealth. "Health is wealth" is the common answer. Some says it is the material property or possession, that gives security in life.
At the last conference that I attended in New York City, Sir Partha Dasgupta professor of Economics at the University of Cambridge, define wealth in his prayer as "natural wealth that surround us unnoticed in which we must become the caring stewards of that wealth so that our children and grandchildren will enjoy in the future. In the same line, Rev. Bernard Ntahoturi, Archbishop of the Anglican Church of Burundi compared the unequal distribution of wealth and described the challenges of extreme poverty, AIDS and the results of many years of civil war in his country.
For me the speakers are for material and natural wealth that the earth has made, they all offer how to solve and distribute this earthly wealth. Of course I agree that industrialized nations must share their wealth to the poor as Jesus said to the rich Young man, "Give all your wealth and follow me."
Reflections: We are all born naked, but with a wealth of potentials. Naked as far as knowledge and reasoning is concern, but the wealth of potentials lies in our mental search to improve ourselves, to be self sufficient, through educations. The wealth of knowledge and wisdom is greater than gold, and nobody can steal them from us. We must find the solution to combat poverty, rather than depend on others. I for one, believe on sharing our wealth of wisdom, knowledge and understanding for others to follow. Now I could say wisdom and knowledge is a form of greater wealth.
Antiphon I will sing to you, O Lord; I will learn from you the way of perfection. My brothers and sisters in Christ, Good Morning ! To prepare ourselves for today's journey, lets call to mind our sins and ask God for forgiveness for he is full of gentleness and compassion.
Lord have mercy.................Lord have mercy. Christ have mercy...................Christ have mercy. Lord have mercy.................Lord have mercy.
May the Almighty God have mercy on us, forgive our sins and lead us to life everlasting, Amen.
Psalm144 To you, O God, will I sing a new song; I will play on the ten-stringed harp to you who give kings their victory, who set David your servant free.
Psalm prayer Lord, God of strength, you gave your Son victory over death. Direct your Church's fight against evil in the world. Clothe us with the weapons of light and unite us under the one banner of love, that we may receive our eternal reward after the battle of earthly life. Amen
Almighty Father, bring to your abode our relatives and friends who have died, esp. N & N. May all those departed find your presence light, happiness and peace. Amen
Lord Jesus, with your merciful and compassionate heart, heal all our relatives and friends who are suffering from known ailment, heal them back to wholeness according to your will. Relieve their fears, pains, and anxieties, Amen.
Holy Spirit giver of life, power and wisdom, be our guide and guard us from harm, Amen Theotokos, pray for us, and all those who call on thee, Amen.
Reflections: Malachi 3:1-4 If religious leaders go wrong, how will the people be led? We all believe we can be a leader, "president of any organizations." However we should not neglect our responsibilities or be ruled by what is convenient. God wants leaders who are faithful and sincere.
Say one "Our Father and Hail Mary" for our own intentions and the healing intentions of this prayers.
Have a nice journey, Deacon Gary
