Today is Monday 8th February 2010.
I had in a brief discussion with some retired persons last night with so negative attitude on being old and getting sick.
Theology of Ageing. Aging is a process within creation. The value of life created in the image of God remains the same all through out life, and our perception of spirituality is more searching and we deal with each other as closer and more dependent than we were younger. On the negative side, the disability brought about by aging process, can bring about isolation, loneliness and despair. This should not happen. The more you isolate yourself the more you feel being alone. Enjoy being with people and with people around, our mind is away from those aches and pain that was cause by natural process of wear and tears. "A merry heart makes a cheerful countenance" Proverb 15:13
On the spiritual side, we welcome this gift from God, we are not too old to serve God, never too old to pray. Though age may stop us from certain physical activities, we have more wisdom and experiences in life to tell about. "Long life is on God's hand "encharla." God's constant help is from childhood to old age. Our lives are a testimony of what God has done for us. Psalm 71: 17,18 Since my youth, O God, you have taught me, and to this day I declare your marvelous deeds. Even when I am old and gray, do not forsake me, O God, till I declare your power to the next generation, your might to all who are to come.
Antiphon I lift up my heart to you, O Lord, and you will hear my morning prayer.
My brothers and sisters in Christ, Good Morning ! To prepare ourselves for today's journey, lets call to mind our sins and ask God for forgiveness for he is full of gentleness and compassion.
Lord have mercy.............Lord have mercy. Christ have mercy...............Christ have mercy. Lord have mercy.............Lord have mercy.
May the Almighty God have mercy on us, forgive our sins and lead us to life everlasting, Amen.
Psalm 29 The Lord's voice resounding on the waters, the Lord on the immensity of waters; the voice of the Lord full of power, the voice of the Lord, full of splendor.
Psalm prayer You life forever, Lord and King. All things of the earth justly sing your glory and honor. Strengthen your people against evil, that we may rejoice in your peace and trust in your eternal promise. Amen
Almighty Father, remember all our relatives and friends who have died, bring them to your abode with your angels and saints in heaven. Look not on their mistakes on earth but look on the merit of their hearts esp. N & N. Eternal rest grant unto them O Lord, and let the perpetual light shine upon them, Amen.
Lord Jesus, our compassional healer, remember our relatives and friends who are suffering from ailments, esp. Rodolfo Clemente, Lucy Waters, Becky Gonzales, Alice Salud, Sonia Lee, Rob Amoroso, Baby Lucas and Estelle Levinson. Relieve all their fears, pains and anxieties and bring them back to physical and spiritual wholeness. Amen
Holy Spirit giver of life, power and wisdom, be our guide and guard us from harm. Amen OL Barangay, pray for us and all those who call on thee. Amen
Reflections: Mark 6: 53-56 "They begged him to let them touch even the edge of his cloak, and all who touched him were healed." "Trust the Lord", many times my patients said "Our fate is in God's hand, and it is on you his power. "Nasa Diyos ang awa, nasa tao, and gawa." Pinoy translations.
Say one "Our Father and Hail Mary," for our own intentions and the healing intentions of this prayers.
Have a nice day. Deacon Gary
