Theology of Prejudice.
Preconceived judgment, or prejudice is akin to
discriminatory attitude towards another individual
because of color, ethnicity,religion, social class
to mention a few.
Such unreasonable attitude could be: Cognitive,
Affective and or Behavioral and are interrelated.
Cognitive when people believe that their prejudice is justified, from a wrong upbringing.
Affective when people attitudes has to do with particular class of people, color or status. Behaviorall when
people have a self conscious reaction, to reject anybody not of their kind.
Reflections:
During my chaplain round, I encounterrd a patient whose problem, with her co-residence is
prejudice. She is quite unhappy, sad, and lonely, feeling isolated, without friends in the
facilities. I just listen carefully to her and I let her continue everything she has in her heart and mind, before I
made my counseling.
This is what I said, a true story. 36 years ago I was at Tulane University in the South. I am doing a graduate
studies and I don't have friends to talk to or consult with my problems. I was miserable, but however, I took
this as a challenge. I said to myself who are they by the way
I am better off than what they think. If they don't bother me, I will not bother them. I endure
and persevere, and won. All throughout my stay in Tulane we live in a hotel because no apartment is
available for us. I had even problem getting a taxi. When I went back for our reunion everything is different. I
said to the resident old lady, what I experienced was preconceived, they are all in my mind, and it should not
be that way. The attitude must be who cares, mix with everybody until they come to know you.

Your love, Lord, reaches to heaven;
your truth to the skies,
Your justice is like God's mountain,
your judgments like the deep.
Psalm prayer
Lord, you are the source of unfailing light. Give us true knowledge of your mercy so that we may renounce
our pride and be filled with the riches of your house. Amen
Almighty Father, remember all our relatives and friends, who have gone before us, bring them to your abode
with your angels and saints in heaven. May your presence with them bring light, happiness and joy, Amen
Lord Jesus, have compassion on all our relatives and friends who are presently sick today especially,
Rodolfo Clemente, Lucy Waters, Becky Gonzalez, Alice Salud, Sonia Lee, Rob Amoroso, Baby Lucas and
Estelle Levinson and for the coming eye surgery of Elaine V.J. Heal and relieve their fears, pain and
anxieties., Amen.
Holy Spirit giver of life, power, and wisdom be our guide and guard us from harm, Amen.
OL of Barangay pray for us, and all who call on thee. Amen
Reflections:
1 King 10:1-10 Mark 7:14-23
Queen of Sheba was prejudice about King Solomon, but when she heard him, she realized the extent of
Solomon riches and wisdom.
It is better to think of what is noble, right, pure, lovely and admirable about a person than being prejudice,
what comes out from our mouth, pictures our inner self. Assimilate the words of God, for they are good, and
let them stay in your heart. Let bad thoughts leave you as waste product of what is good. Can you say
