Today is Sunday 21st February 2010
We just came from the retreat and I would like to share with you my learning experience.
Missio inter gentes/ Mission among the nations was the topic of yesterday discussion. Reflections: Good stories are based on experience. The strongest basis of truth is the first hand experience of the narrator. Our best stories are about who we are. All our personal stories are the ground for understanding spiritual, doctrinal and ethical symbols. It reveals the true values, moral norms and priorities of ours. Thus our spirituality emerges in our story.
I notice that when I narrated to my audience during my homily or preaching how I was called by God, people listen and at the end they would approach me and said "Why did you make me cry?"
This the new technique in evangelization. Not according to the Old Testament or According to Matthew chapter so and so versus so and so, but it a real story that probably Matthew himself will include it in his stories because it is the story of the truth.
The homily must follow the Gospel in the usual way. The homily is more personal stories.
Antiphon Night holds no terrors for me sleeping under God's wings.
My brothers and sisters good evening ! This is your night prayer for Sunday. We arrived tonight and I found I have no prayers since this morning because we were dismissed after 2PM.
Psalm 91 It is he who will free you from the snare of the fowler who seeks to destroy you; he will conceal you with his pinions and under his wings you will find refuge.
Protect us, Lord, as we stay awake, watch over us as we sleep, that awake, we may keep watch with Christ, and asleep, rest in his peace.
Lord, now you let your servant go in peace; your word has been fulfilled, may my own eyes have seen the salvation which you have prepared in the sight of every people: a light to reveal you to the nations and the glory of your people Israel.
May the all-powerful Lord grant us a restful night and a peaceful death, Amen.
Good night everyone, Deacon Gary
