Today is Saturday 27th February 2010.
Theology of Worry. In response to Dr. Max Rallon's Theology of Worry.
Modern lives are getting faster and faster, more demanding, and we are getting into stress and worry particularly when it is job related, in this economic crisis of ours.
These brings about worry and stress because of our growing concern about our family, money, health and personal safety. Reflections: When we worry so much, it can cause real damage to our well being. We must manage our daily stress or worry by prioritizing our duties or demands. Saying no when someone makes unfair demands on you. During my retreat a deacon was in much stress because he could not say no to his pastor. I told him our life as a deacon is voluntary in nature. Chose what you can do that is healthy to you and the parish.
Meditation, prayer, and simple quiet time are essential antidotes for worry and this is what retreat is all about. When you are at home, listen to calming music before your night prayers and on waking after your morning prayers. I have my music on while doing this Psalm for you.
We must balance our life, even though we are already retired. Don't be retarded as my friends expression, "I am already retarded."
My routine are as follows: Composing my Psalm, morning Mass, walk in the mall by 7:30 AM, breakfast then go to my chaplain duty. At lunch I sneak out to have soup in the mall. Interventions with my patients, write my verbatim, go to Barns and Noble to read, home and appreciate life with my wife. Internet...yes, it is in between time, like smoking for some.
Antiphon Blessed are they who follow the law of the Lord, and make your life balance. My brothers and sisters in Christ, Good Morning ! To prepare ourselves for today's journey, lets call to mind our sins and ask God for forgiveness for he is full of gentleness and compassion.
Lord have mercy............Lord have mercy. Christ have mercy..............Christ have mercy. Lord have mercy............Lord have mercy,
May the Almighty God have mercy on us, forgive our sins and lead us to life everlasting, Amen.
Psalm 119 In your love hear our voice, O Lord; give us life by your decrees. Those who harm us unjustly draw near: they are far from your law.
Psalm prayer Save us by the power of your hand, Father, for our enemies have ignored your words. May the fire of your word consume our sins, and its brightness illumine our hearts, Amen.
Almighty Father, remember all our relatives, and friends who have died. Bring them all to your abode with the angels and saints in heaven. May your presence bring light, happiness and joy to all our departed relatives and friends, Amen.
Lord Jesus, may you touch all our relatives and friends, who are presently suffering from know illnesses, be healed by your compassionate heart. Relieve their fears, pains and anxieties, Amen.
Holy Spirit giver of life, power and wisdom, be our guide and guard us from harm. Amen OL Barangay, pray for us and all who call on thee. Amen
Reflections: Matthew 5:48 Be perfect therefore as your heavenly Father is perfect. We can be perfect if our behavior is appropriate for our maturity. Christ call all his disciple to excel, to rise above mediocrity and to mature in every area, becoming like him. Those who strive to be perfect will one day be perfect, even as Christ is perfect.
Say one "Our Father and Hail Mary" for our own intentions, and the healing intentions of this prayers.
Have a nice weekends, Deacon Gary
