SAN MATEO, RIZAL, March 6 - Results of the ongoing “Mindanaw Dialogues” will be consolidated and hand them over to the peace panels of the Philippine government and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF), according to Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process Annabelle T. Abaya.
Abaya made the remarks during the 8th reflective dialogue held in San Mateo, Rizal today.
The dialogue was attended by some 300 peace stakeholders from Metro Manila, Southern Luzon, Central Luzon and the Bicol region.
Similar dialogues were conducted in Jolo, Sulu; Zamboanga City, Cotabato City, Koronadal City, Davao City, Bacolod City and Puerto Princesa City.
These dialogues will give the participants to ask questions of what they think about the peace talks and give their inputs on how to resolve the Mindanao problem.
“I want these dialogues to be dynamic,” Abaya said.
She stressed that the reflective dialogues will present issues, get feedbacks from various sectors of society so the people will have a clear perspective of the peace process and the armed conflict in southern Philippines.
The dialogues will not attempt to persuade people but give information so that vital issues will be clarified, Abaya said.
Participants will be given equal time, she said, adding that no one voice will be allowed to dominate during the reflective dialogues.
In all the dialogues that have been conducted, the people have expressed their desire for a peaceful solution to the Mindanao problem.
They also support the peace process between the government and the MILF to succeed.
