Noynoy’s star consistently falling but not if Pulse Asia could help it

Bad hair day or falling hair syndrome?
Billy Esposo stepped on his own toes, again for the umpteenth time.
The latest Pulse Asia survey that came out was extremely kind to Noynoy Aquino but cruel to Billy’s pet peeve Manny Villar, so the fat man immediately banged his keyboard and blasted what would turn out in a few days to be an embarrassment.
Billy's premature fireworks and celebration was cut short, however, when the subsequent BusinessWorld- Social Weather Station (SWS) and the Manila Standard (MTD) surveys for almost the same period and released within the same week , corroborated each other, while Pulse Asia stuck out like a sore thumb.
Of course Perry Diaz, Billy’s outfielder here in the US and also a Noynoy fanatic, echoed the fat man’s rambunctious article (below, thanks to Josie Acedillo) but we do not expect him to do the same with SWS and the MTD.
What was suspicious about Pulse Asia's figures?
The survey company, who is owned by Noynoy’s first cousin Rafael Lopa, posted last month that Aquino and Villar were on a statistical deadlock at 37 and 35 respectively. In the Pulse Asia, Billy crowed that Villar is all of a sudden 6 pts behind Aquino 36 to 29.
The shave by Pulse Asia from Villar was immediately padded to Erap Estrada. It would not have been a neat job if they factored it in favor of Noynoy as his numbers have been sinking in all surveys since October. So they added it to Erap to show that Noynoy's lead over Villar has become bigger and out of the margin of error, while sending thinning the space between Villar and Estrada.
SWS reports Aquino is identical with Pulse Asia at 36 but Villar is 34, or only two points difference. MTD sustains this but at lower percentiles, still Aquino leading at 34 and Villar 32, also two points difference. Still a statistical deadlock.
All three surveys report Erap Estrada at third, Pulse Asia 18, SWS 15 and MTD 16. Again SWS and MTD almost identical, and beyond the 2 pt margin of error away over at Pulse Asia.
Gibo Teodoro is 7 at Pulse and 6 at SWS and also 6 at MTD.
Villanueva and Gordon score 2 or 3 in SWS and MTD, but only 1 with Pulse Asia.

In the latest ABS-CBN newscast, the anchor highlighted that Aquino’s numbers have been consistently dropping since the Liberal Party and its candidate’s supporters in the Manila Business Club commissioned that overly creative survey from Dagupan to Lucena boasting that Noynoy captured 60% of the entire island of Luzon, despite the fact that the two Ilocos regions and the whole Bicol region were not covered.
From 60%, Noynoy sank to 47% in November (down 13 pts) to 46 in December (down 1 pt) to 44 in later December (down another 2 pts within the same month), to 42 in January (down 2 pts again) and finally to 36 in February (down another 6 pts).
Nonoy Aquino has dropped 24 points since October, and still falling. Don’t just believe me look at the chart above.
Even Kris Aquino in her statement this morning in Zamboanga confirmed that her family is extremely worried about Noynoy's free fall and Manny Villar's coming almost eyeball-to-eyeball with her brother.
On the other hand, Villar numbers climbed 7 pts on the first week of December (20 to 27), another 6 pts on the last week of the same month, (27 to 33), another 2 pts in January (33 to 35), and plateau-ed dropping 1 pt (35 to 34) in February.
If this is so, then where did Pulse Asia get the Villar drop of 6 pts?
Coffee shops in Manila are humming that could have been a left-handed hook by Rafael Lopa, Noynoy’s first cousin. The timing however rendered the low blow untenable because SWS and MTD surveys came out too covering almost the same period (February 20 to 28 inclusive)
Noynoy and Rafa’s mother are sisters, they are both children of Jose Cojuangco Sr. and sisters of Peping. (Gibo and Rafa are just second cousins since their mothers are first cousins).
The “kapihan” aficionados have snickering smiles on their faces translated out loud that “blood is indeed thicker than coffee” (with a due respects to water!)
Lopa had of course announced, short of swearing on the Bible last November 19 (Philippine Star), that he had already divested himself of interests in Pulse Asia since his first cousin Noynoy decided to run last September 2009.
He also said that since 2008, Pulse Asia has been operated by Prof. Felipe Miranda and his replacement as president of the corporation is Ronald Holmes of the La Salle Educational System.
In an interview by ABS-CBN release last February 3, Holmes said that “the next presidential survey may show a different result since it should already reflect possible changes in public perception of Villar following the Senate Committee of the Whole’s report recommending his censure for unethical conduct in connection with the C-5 road project transactions.” That sounded to me a statement of a political consultant rather than a dispassionate pollster.
Now it appears that Holmes had to make his prediction stick by showing a 6 pt. drop in Villar’s numbers from 35 to 29 in the February 21 to 25 Pulse Asia Survey, a trend that was not sustained by SWS and MTD.
Rafa Lopa besides having been immediate-past president and chief executive officer of Pulse Asia was also executive assistant to former President Corazon Aquino. He is executive director of the Benigno Servillano Aquino Foundation, and trustee and executive director for community development of the PLDT-Smart Foundation.
PLDT or the Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company is one of the conglomerates that Cory Aquino returned to their former owners for zero compensation or for and in consideration of NO payment whatsoever despite the fact that the government under Marcos paid for their equal weight in net worth before Mrs. Aquino came to power.
(The other conglomerate was owned by the Lopez oliogarchy including Meralco, ABS-CBN and others. Rumors are now circulating in Manila that Cory Aquino (so now her heirs including Noynoy and Kris Aquino) are substantial stockholders of the Meralco and PLDT groups. How that came about is for the rocket scientists to decipher.)
The majority of PLDT was then owned by Ramon Cojuangco the cousin of Cory Aquino, and his wife Imelda Ongsiako. Their son is Tony “Boy” Cojuangco who separated from Denise Yabut and now the significant other of Gretchen Barreto.
Noynoy and Rafa Lopa are not only cousins but best of friends. Outside the Makati Medical Center, Rafa was the guy in glasses with yellow bracelet who was with Noynoy when he announced ger mother Cory's death. .
A blogger correctly observed “Remember when Noynoy was walking down the lobby toward glass door to meet press outside? He was with Boy Abunda, but there was a guy ahead of them who was pushing his hand in front to open glass door and tell press to stand back? That was Rafa. So you see how tight they were.”
Rafa Lopa, Billy Esposo, Boy Montelibano, Conrad de Quiros and Perry Diaz have one thing in common before Lito Banayo and Ducky Paredes joined the black propaganda affinity clique. They all love Gawad Kalinga and were contemplating some years back of propping up Tony Meloto for the presidency of the Philippines . They were so disheartened when Meloto hit the wall when Couples for Christ Foundation for Family and Life withdrew it support to the project. Luckily, Nonoy came along.
Is Pulse Asia is their pollster of choice?
Does Pepe Abueva know something happening inside Pulse Asia, that has designated as senior analyst for quite sometime already, sending him to endorse Manny Villar instead as his president of choice?
Ang dumi naman ng isip ninyo!
