Today is Saturday 13th March 2010.
Qualities for a Clergy to be. Many have asked me a question on what made me take the road to the diaconate to be a deacon?
I was called, by St. Padre Pio and St. Francis of Assisi. Truly many are called but few are chosen. Even those to be ordained deacon in June, they could not answer for sure, if they will be ordained. "Their answers is, if God is willing."
Reflections: In the gospel of Mark 12:28-34, one has to have a wisdom and longing of Christian Holiness that is a discernment to love God and our neighbors. The vision of commitment must be real, aside from being compassionate, with unquestionable integrity and honor. Must be full of patience and perseverance, passion and courage to undergo rigorous studies, and desire to learn the holy Scriptures and its interpretation. One must have a clear understanding of Christian theology and Christian holiness within it. We must have a solid grasp of the history of the Christian church and its mission through the centuries.
Antiphon Bless the Lord, my soul, and remember all his kindness, for he pardon all my faults. My brothers and sisters in Christ, Good Morning ! To prepare ourselves for this weekend's journey, lets call to mind our sins, and ask God for forgiveness, for he is full of gentleness and compassion.
Lord have mercy.............Lord have mercy. Christ have mercy..................Christ have mercy. Lord have mercy.............Lord have mercy.
May the good Lord, have mercy on us, forgive our sins, and lead us to life everlasting, Amen.
Psalm 119 In your love hear my voice, O Lord; give me life by your decrees. Those who harm me unjustly draw near: they are far from your law.
But you, O Lord are close: your commands are truth. Long have I known that your will is established for ever.
Psalm prayer Save us by the power of your hand, Father, for our enemies have ignored your words. May the fire of your word consume our sins and its brightness illumine our hearts. Amen.
Almighty Father, remember those relatives and friends of ours who have died, esp N & N. Bring them to your abode with your angels and saints in heaven. Show them your presence light, happiness and peace. Amen.
Lord Jesus, have mercy and have compassion on all our relatives and friends who are presently suffering from some known ailment. Relieve their fears, pains and anxieties, including those around them who are also suffering because their love ones are in pain.
Holy Spirit giver of life, power and wisdom, be our guide and guard us from harm, Amen OL Barangay pray for us, and all who call on thee, Amen.
Reflections: Luke 18: 9-14 The parable of two men who prayed in the temple. The Pharisee who prayed about how good he was, and the tax collector who beat his breast and said "God have mercy on me, a sinner."
Self righteousness like what the Pharisee was doing is pride, (one of the capital sin) while the tax collector humble himself and ask in a contrite heart forgiveness.
The lesson here is don't let pride in your achievements cut you off from God.
Say one "Our Father and Hail Mary" for our own intentions and the healing intentions of this prayers.
Enjoy the weekends, Deacon Gary
