Today is "Holy Monday" 29th March 2010.
At sundown the Jewish Passover Seder starts. The Passover in Hebrew is Pesach.
This is a major Jewish spring festival, commemorating the Exodus of the Jews from Egypt over 3000 years ago. The name passover refers to the fact that G_d "passed over" the houses of the Jews when he was slaying the firstborn Egyptian male. The "Sacrificial Lamb," prefigure Jesus, the "Lamb of God" who takes away the sins of the world.
Luke 22:10-13 Jesus replied, " As you enter the city, a man carrying a jar of water will meet you. Follow him to the house that he enters, and say to the owner of the house. The teacher asks: "Where is the guest room, where I may eat the Passover with my disciples? He will show you a large upper room, all furnished. Make preparations there,"
Reflections: Jesus who represent the spotless "Lamb of God," shed his blood in order to save us from the penalty of death brought by our sin which we inherited from Adam and Eve. When he said to his disciple, "Do this in memory of me, he actually instituted our present day Eucharist. The bread and wine actually become his body and blood through transubstantiation.
When we receive Christ in the Eucharist we show our deep gratitude and love and at the same time it strengthened our relationship with him.
Before we receive the Eucharist we must be free from actual sins, sins committed after our Baptism. Repentance of our sins, penance (confession) and reconciliation with "Our Lord, Jesus" is necessary before we received the Eucharist in communion.
Antiphon by your own blood, Lord, you brought us back to God, Glory be to the Father..+sign of the cross +
My brothers and sisters in Christ, Good Morning ! To prepare ourselves for today Holy Monday, and in celebration of Passover, lets call to mind our sins, and ask God for forgiveness for he is full of gentleness and compassion.
Lord have mercy............. Lord have mercy. Christ have mercy................. Christ have mercy. Lord have mercy............. Lord have mercy.
May the Almighty God have mercy on us, forgive our sins, and lead us to life everlasting, Amen.
Psalm 45 Your throne, O God, has endure forever, A scepter of justice is the scepter of your kingdom Your love is for justice; your hatred for evil.
Therefore God, your God, has anointed you with the oil of gladness above other kings: your robes are fragrant with aloes and myrrh.
Psalm prayer: When you took on flesh, Lord Jesus, you made a marriage of mankind with God. Help us to be faithful to your word and endure our exile bravely, until we are called to the heavenly marriage feast, to which the Virgin Mary, exemplar of your Church, has preceded us. Amen
Almighty Father, Remember all those who have died, esp. Fr. Joseph Galdon, SJ. Bring them all to your abode, our relatives and friends with your angels and saints in heaven. May your presence bring light, happiness and peace, Amen.
Lord Jesus, be merciful and compassionate with our relatives and friends who are suffering from known malady. Touch them with you healing hands, especially sister Rosario Bridget Villanueva, O.P., Sister Helen Ojario, O Carm, Dr.Alberto Alcantara, and Rodolfo Clemente. Lord Jesus relieve their fears, pains and anxieties. Amen
Holy Spirit giver of life, power and wisdom be our guide, and guard us from harm. Amen OL Barangay, pray for us and all who call on thee, Amen
Reflections: John 12: 1-11 When Jesus arrived at Bethany, Martha served, in honor of Jesus. Then Mary took about a pint of pure nerd, poured it on Jesus feet and wiped his feet with her hair.
The act of Mary was an act of "agape love," respect for a man who raised her brother Lazarus from the dead. It is an anointing that usually reserved for the dead or dying. We could just say that it is in anticipation of Jesus burial and public declaration of faith in him as Messiah.
During this Holy Week, what can we offer to Jesus, in anticipation to Good Friday and his resurrection on Easter Sunday? Please reply.
Lets continue our "repentance cleansing prayers" in an act of meditation, do our penance (confession), renew and reconcile ourselves in good relationship with Jesus.
