“Jutice for the victims under Mrs. Arroyo’s administration is hopeless. While Justice Secretary Alberto Agra is the alter-ego of the President, it’s his job to give justice to the victims, and not cover up the crime," ani Atty. Roque sa isang panayam sa radyo.(JOMA)

Reminiscent of 2004 Hacienda Luisita massacre LP’S AQUINO YET AGAIN ECHOES THE MILITARY TUNE – MAZA
|
| |
Liberal Party standard bearer Noynoy Aquino is once again adopting the very tune the military and its Commander-in-Chief – President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo – use for their demolition project against progressive individuals and organizations.
This was the statement of Makabayan-Nacionalista senatorial candidate Liza Maza on Senator Aquino’s spokesperson Edwin Lacierda's latest statement accusing Nacionalista Party as pro-communist and slamming Col. Ariel Querubin’s alliance with pro-communist Manny Villar.
“It echoes the tune used by the military as justification for all their human rights violations and atrocities; that the civilians they have abducted, tortured and killed, including children, are either communists or communist sympathizers,” Maza said.
Maza pointed out that this reminded her of the Hacienda Luisita Massacre.
“This was the very same line applied by Senator Aquino during the Hacienda Luisita Massacre to justify the brutal dispersal of plantation workers who were only asking for better working conditions, resulting in the murder of fourteen people and injury of hundreds of others,” Maza said.
Maza said that Aquino actively defended his family’s interest in the 6,400-hectare plantation estate in Tarlac, and supported the management of Hacienda Luisita and Central Azucarera de Tarlac’s position that the use of more than a thousand armed soldiers was “a necessary and a legitimate exercise of state power” that worked against an “illegal, communist-inspired activity”.
The protesters were pushing for fairer wages (at that time pegged at P9.50/week), increased benefits and implementation of the land reform program. (joma)
