President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo will grace tomorrow (April 21) the ongoing 31st National Conference of Employers (NCE) that highlights the role of Philippine business in national development at a time of opportunities from the improving global economic outlook.
The President will be the guest speaker during the closing ceremony of the business conference at the Manila Hotel.
Among those who will welcome the President at the conference are Atty. Miguel B. Varela, chairman of the Employers Confederation of the Philippines (ECOP); ECOP president Edgardo Lacson; ECOP president emeritus Atty. Ancheta Tan; ECOP honorary chairman Sergio Ortiz Luis Jr.; Amb. Donald G. Dee, ECOP Council of Leaders Chairman; 31st NCE chairman Alfonso Siy; 31st NCE co-chairman Jesus Varela; and Don Emilio Yap, chairman emeritus of Philtrust Bank.
Gracing the yearly business conference, the President has been commending the entire business community for striking a balance between employers’ interest and workers’ welfare aside from being a partner in the country’s development.
In partnership with the business community, the President has instituted continuing reforms and established vital infrastructure which greatly improved the country’s competitiveness and sustained growth even at the height of the world economic crisis last year.

PGMA to award 11 locators at Clark Ecozone

President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo will confer awards tomorrow, Wednesday, on 11 top performing business locators at the Clark Freeport Ecozone, the second time such awards are given by the Clark Development Corp. to its industrial tenants. The awards will be held at the Ballroom of the Stotsenberg Hotel in Pampanga.
The President will be received by Clark Development Corp. Chairman Rizalino Navarro, CDC President/CEO Benigno N. Ricafort, Pampanga 3rd District Rep. Carmelo Lazatin, Tarlac 3rd District Rep. Jeci Lapus, Mabalacat Mayor Marino Morales, Angeles City Mayor Francis Nepomuceno, Clark Investors and Locators Association president Joselito Mercado, Northern Luzon Commander Lt.Gen. Ricardo David and PNP PRO3 Chief Superintendent Arturo Cacdac.
Welcome remarks will be given by CDC President/CEO Ricafort. It will be followed by the conferment of the 2010 Clark Awards to locators.
The awardees are: NCO Sumidenso Phils. Clark Inc and Automotive Technologies for Outstanding Employment Performance and HR (human resource) Management; Poongsan Microtech Phils. For Outstanding Environment and Health Management; COMCLARK Technologies for Outstanding Investment Performance; L & T International Phils., Nanox Phils, Yokohama Tires Phils., SMK Electronics Phils., Aderans Phils. And L & K Industries Phils for Outstanding Overall Performance; and Australia International Training Management Group for Newcomer Award.
The awards conferment is CDC’s way of recognizing the valuable contribution of Clark investors in nation- building, particularly the development of the Freeport into a world-class investment haven.
The conferment also recognizes the valuable economic, social and development contributions and notable business and people empowerment management practices and successes of Clark’s Freeport locators.
