Maritime Ministry XV
On my 3rd week at seafarers, I learned a lot of terrible and sad experiences that these seaman have.
The problem starts with the sadness that many seafarers families experience at the moment they say goodbye to each others.
The problem of sea includes piracy and hijackings of the vessel continue to frigthened them. Double with natural sea disasters, and loneliness of being away from their love ones, is a constant threat to their emotional and spiritual wholeness.
Reflection: Henri Nowen say: The posture that we take in relation to the outer world depends a lot on what is happening in our inner world. If we are surrounded by fearful friends then an attitude of suspicioness enter our inner self. Why do you do that? That can be wrong? You cannot do that? etc etc. However if our inner self is full of love, then we will respond with joy and peace and carry our inner self, with God's righteousness and justice.
When our inner voices, is divided between, fear and love that brings; faith and doubt; insecurity and control; love and resurrection; then we become human that need to fight them for what it mean to survive.
The chaplain then need to listen and lead them to emotional and spiritual wholeness.
Antiphon God is the strength of his people. In him we chose to live in safety. Save us, Lord, who share in your life, and give us your blessing; be our sheperd forever. My brothers and sisters in Christ, Good Morning! To prepare ourselves for today's journey, lets call to mind our sins and ask God for forgiveness for he is full of gentleness and compassion.
Lord have mercy.........Lord have mercy. Christ have mercy...........Christ have mercy. Lord have mercy.........Lord have mercy.
May the good Lord, have mercy on us, forgive our sins and lead us to life everlasting, Amen
Psalm 92 To me you give the wild-ox's strength; you anoint me with the purest oil. My eyes looked in triumph on my foes; my ears heard gladly of their fall. The just will flourish like the palm-tree and grow like a Lebanon cedar.
Psalm prayer Take our shame away from us, Lord, and make us rejoice in your saving works. May all who have been chosen by your Son always abound in works of faith, hope and love in your service, Amen.
Almighty Father, remember all those who have died, bring them all to your abode, and show your presence of light, happiness and peace forever, Amen.
Lord Jesus, the greatest physician, may your love and mercy heal Sister Rosario V; Rodolfo C; and all those who ask me to pray for them. Amen.
Holy Spirit, giver of life, power and wisdom, be our guide and guard us from harm, Amen OL Barangay, pray for us and all who call on thee, Amen.
Reflections Matthew 8:5-17 The centurion said, "Lord, I do not deserve to have you come under my roof. But just say the word, and my servant will be healed."
Trust and faith are two things that must be part of our inner self, Jesus is our model of patience, endurance and persevering heart. We will follow him and as believer, lets continue our self confidence, that he is always with us and walking with us.
Say one "Our Father and Hail Mary" for our own intentions and the healing intentions of this prayers.
Enjoy your weekend, Deacon Gary
