Embassy of the Philippines in Washington, DC offers Thanksgiving Mass to celebrate
Inauguration of President Aquino

The Embassy of the Philippines in Washington DC offered a thanksgiving Mass at the Carlos P. Romulo Hall
to celebrate the inauguration of the 15th President of the Republic of the Philippines, H.E. Benigno S. Aquino III.

The inauguration rites, held at the Quirino Grandstand in Manila on June 30, 2010, was attended by foreign
dignitaries including US Trade Representative Ron Kirk who represented US President Barack Obama. News
reports estimate the crowd during the inauguration at 500,000.

Leaders of the Filipino community joined the Embassy personnel in the Mass celebrated by Filipino Rev. Paul
John Camiring, Associate Pastor of the Saint Augustine Parish in Washington, DC. The Ateneo Alumni Choir
led the community in singing the liturgical songs.

The Mass was followed by a simple reception where Philippine Ambassador to the United States Willy C. Gaa
encouraged the Filipino-American community to be inspired by the message of hope that the inauguration has
set forth.

In his remarks, Ambassador Gaa said, "Bagamat tayo ay malayo sa Pilipinas, bawat isa sa atin ay maaaring
makibahagi sa hamon ng pagbabago." -- END
